Dr. Ankit Singhal: Engineering a Sustainable Energy Future

Dr. Ankit Singhal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, specializing in renewable energy integration and power systems. He earned his B.Tech. from IIT Delhi (2009–2013) and completed his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Iowa State University, USA (2013–2018), focusing on power systems.

Before joining IIT Delhi in 2023, Dr. Singhal worked as a power systems researcher at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in the USA (2019–2022), where he contributed to innovations in grid modernization and renewable energy integration . His research interests include enabling high penetration of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) such as electric vehicles, solar photovoltaics, and energy storage into the power grid. He focuses on decentralizing electric energy access through microgrids, transactive control, and enhancing energy equity.

Dr. Singhal has collaborated with various industries and organizations, including LG Electronics, Indian Railways, and multiple utilities in India and the USA, to advance research in power systems and renewable energy technologies. His accolades include the Young Faculty Incentive Fellowship at IIT Delhi (2023) and Outstanding Performance Awards at PNNL for innovation in research and contributions to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) 2021 Through his academic and professional endeavors, Dr. Singhal continues to drive impactful research and development in sustainable energy systems, aiming to create a more resilient and equitable power infrastructure.
